Chuck Bouvet came to the Naval Academy to play football. Chuck's older brother, George, was a graduate with the Class of 1957, and Chuck wanted to follow in his brother’s footsteps in the Class of 1970. Chuck departed from USNA after a meeting with the Academic Board during Third-Class year. It was his second trip to the Academic Board.
On his return to his room following his first trip, he found a note on his desk asking him to return a call to Coach Bear Bryant at Alabama. The note said that Coach Bryant was already apprised of Chuck's grades and suggested the two should talk. But, Chuck wanted to stick it out at Navy, even if a shoulder injury interfered with dreams of playing for the "Big Blue", but it was not to be. Chuck immediately transferred to Fordham University where he graduated with honors and a business degree.
Chuck had grown up in Scarsdale, NY, and loved Manhattan. He was drawn to the world of high finance. He carved out a successful career in investment banking, first with Donaldson, Luftin, Jenerette, and then starting his own company selling stocks internationally. That business was later sold to Reuters.
He was married to Katherine Herlihy Bouvet. They had a brownstone on the Upper East Side of New York City and Chuck loved living the life of a business tycoon. They later moved to New Canaan, Connecticut, where they raised their daughters, Christine and Cynthia. Katherine died of lung cancer in the summer of 2001.
Complications from prostate cancer took Chuck on December 9, 2005. Both Christine and Cynthia finished college before Chuck passed away and are married and living in Boston.
A Wake is schedule for December 13 at Hoyt Funeral Home, New Canaan, from 6PM to 8PM. The Funeral will be December 14 at St. Aloisius, New Canaan, CT. at 10AM.
